Cozy Holiday Cottage in Devon
Yonder Shippon is situated on a farm on Dartmoor in South Devon.
It is a delightful cosy little cottage, recently converted from a stone barn known as a ‘shippon.’ A shippon is where cattle and sheep would once have been housed. It has been beautifully converted providing a living room downstairs with a sitting area and wood burner, dining area and kitchen. Spiral stairs lead to the mezzanine floor above with a double bed (or twin beds if preferred) and a shower room.
The detached cottage has its own courtyard and has fabulous panoramic views of the countryside including the moor. It is situated two miles south of the scenic village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor and is an ideal base from which to discover Dartmoor – its history, archaeology, flora and fauna, beautiful rivers, the local pubs, the nearby town of Ashburton and its antique shops, Princetown and its historic prison. Totnes and Chagford are within easy reach too. There is much to see and do on the doorstep.
The walking and riding are excellent and you would be perfectly situated with the Two Moors Way passing the end of the drive. Bring your dog, your horse, your canoe, your bicycle or your walking boots! Or you can curl up in front of the fire with a good book – the choice is yours!
Mobile phone networks vary in their effectiveness at the cottage.
It is a working farm so there may be livestock and machinery movement. Smoking is not permitted.
